Cathy Hughes grew up poor.
In the sixties, when she was in her teens, she was thrown out of her house. She was also a mom who had nowhere to go. Yet she was determined on that day, that she and her kid would amount to something.
With this sheer determination and her love of radio, she later started Urban one, a network of radio stations, focusing on the African American community.
Today, she and her son are multi-millionaires and have made tremendous difference in the lives of African American communities.
